School Incursion – Making a Movie Together

Our project is called “Making a Movie Together”, which is a series of workshops that are a part of the “I Love Planet Earth” Workshop series that Starry Arts has been doing. Participants (Children) will be invited to create a Comic Movie that incorporates the design of their original emoji faces or paintings. Then they will use our AI Motion Capture app to create their own video using these designs. Starry Arts also provides a tool called “Animation Maker” for them to generate GIF animations from their own paintings.

Students can either create their storylines individually or in groups. They are able to create any story they are interested in or curious about (eg. science and engineering inventions, environmental issues). In the virtual app, there will be three spaces: A creative, virtual and real world. Starry will bring a portal to planet earth (the real world) to the student, and once they enter the portal, their artwork will enter the virtual world where their imagination comes to life. We will build different virtual facilities (eg. science museums, Asian buildings, etc.) that can be used as backgrounds in their virtual world videos, but if they don’t use our facilities, they can use their own painting, video, photo or animation story as the background. Through the AI Motion Capture app and “Animation Maker”, we will bring their stories to life.

Participants can create artworks or emojis to express different feelings from simple emotions (eg. happy chatting, sad to happy, happy to angry), to more complex situations that involve multiple emotions (eg. being nervous / anxious / excited / confident before a speech, performance, etc.).

The purpose of this project is to provide children with a chance to practice their skills in art, painting, digital skills, and communication. Children can use this chance to integrate all of the mentioned skills to produce their own unique artworks and animation and present them to the public. Through these workshops, we can also collect a large set of children’s artworks which can be used to further understand children’s emotions. This can also support university research about Children’s psychology. In particular, how a child’s art can show their emotions and thought process.

Our Education Program

The movie ‘I Love Planet Earth’ is about a group of Artibots that traveled to Earth from outer space, called the Creative World, to learn about Art and Emotions from school children. In return, they share STEAM knowledge with them. They do numerous fun activities and create many interesting stories together. They talk about how to protect the environment and build a healthy future Earth. Starry and Artibots will collect a plethora of ideas and designs for the environment of the future Earth from the school students. They learn together, and through these stories, they create a movie together.

The whole process will relate to ‘Making a Movie Together’, where school children will join this school incursion activity. This becomes a teaching resource for teachers, where children can learn from this incursion program.

Our program provides basic infrastructure in the motion capture app, such as the Art Exhibition Museum, Library, Laboratory, Science Museum, Plantarnium, and Social Communication Centre, which is part of the Creative World the Artibots and Starry come from. School children can use this app to do research and present various topics, such as drama, sports, dancing, etc. For example, if they decide to use the Library, students will create their artworks based on their own knowledge, hobbies, interests and research to create a virtual book to put in one of the five libraries (comet, underwater volcano, forests, land and humanities).

Our Ambition

We aim to instil an emotional aspect in their learning by using art as an expressive medium. They can use their instincts, hobbies, experiences, and interesting learning topics to influence the way they investigate and learn about the world around them.

We want them to become future thinkers, seeing our world’s past and how they are the next generation of influencers and movers of the world. We want them to start thinking about their emotional and environmental impact on the world.

By introducing the evolution of ancient technology from ancient civilisations till present, we teach them how simple beginnings evolve into complicated thought and problem-solving processes. By revisiting the past and learning about the issues in society, children can learn from the past and develop their skills to build a better future.

We want to spark children’s passions and responsibility towards their future, and become a positive influence towards their world-view through STEAM education.

Recommended Program — GIF Emoji Design

We recommend starting with this program first, as these designs will become the Virtual ID students will use to enter the creative world areas, such as a Library ID or Art Museum ID.

Other Programs

Apart from the above samples, we have more than 100 other STEAM Art education programs. Please contact us for more details.

  • Our programs aim to broaden children’s knowledge through children learning and researching the design methodology from ancient inventions and creations, and combined with today’s science and technology.
  • We aim to inspire children to be influenced by these ancient inventions and ways of thinking, providing motivation and direction for children to create and express their understanding of nature, the world, and the universe, and sow the seeds of hope for the future.

Our sessions are 2 hours each, and we can have multiple depending on which program you select.

* Do we need equipment or is it supplied by your company?
All art equipment is provided by us. We require tables and chairs for students to have ample space to work and it would be beneficial to have access to a projector or large TV screen to show our digital resources that include pictures that are relevant to the art program.

Incursion programs include:

  • Brush and paints
  • Schools will have free use of our educational motion-capture app
  • Schools will have free use our GIF-maker online tool as well for 2D animation creations

* Do we need to do any prior teaching connected to the lesson?
No, there is no need to do any prior teaching. It would be beneficial to have knowledge of what the students are learning in the different KLAs so we can relate it to what students are learning at the moment.

* How much and what space is needed?
Students need to have desks and individual chairs with ample space to work on their artwork individually at the table.
